Saalt Small vs Regular Cup: a practical size guide

By Linkcallan Editorial · Updated Sep 25, 2026
THE QUICK ANSWER

Choose between Saalt Small and Regular by fit first, then consider capacity. Do not buy Regular solely because you want fewer changes. Small holds a stated 25 mL and Regular 30 mL; that extra 5 mL only helps if the selected cup fits and works for you.

Before you choose

If you are replacing a cup that already fits well, start with its recorded size and firmness. If this is your first cup, Saalt’s fitting guidance is a starting point, not a guaranteed size prescription.

Use existing fit information first

If you own a cup, identify the exact model rather than remembering only “small.” Size labels are not standardized across brands. A Small from one manufacturer is not evidence that another Small has matching dimensions or handling.

Write down what you want to change. “I want a softer version of a cup that fits” is a firmness decision. “The size does not work for me” is a fitting question. The original vs Soft guide helps avoid changing both without a reason.

What if you have never used a cup?

Begin with Saalt’s product fitting guidance and read the instructions before ordering. Anatomy and handling matter; age or childbirth history alone cannot establish your exact fit. If the guidance leaves you between sizes, use the brand’s fitting support rather than treating the larger capacity as a tie-breaker.

A useful question to bring to that conversation is: “What information would distinguish Small from Regular for me?” That gets closer to a size decision than asking which cup is best for everyone.

You do not need to buy both adult sizes merely because both exist. Resolving an uncertain first choice can be more useful than creating a collection of untried products.

Why flow alone cannot choose the size

A nominal capacity describes the product, not your actual usable capacity or changing schedule. Moving from 25 mL to 30 mL does not prove that you will gain a particular number of hours. A product that is unsuitable for you is not improved by holding more in a specification table.

Equally, choosing Small because you have lighter flow does not establish that it is the right physical fit. Treat flow as one part of the decision after the fit question, not as an automatic size calculator.

Cup size does not transfer to Disc size

Saalt uses Small and Regular for its discs too, but those are different products. Do not order a Small Disc just because you use a Small Cup. Start again with the Disc size guide.

If you are undecided about the product format, settle that first with Cup vs Disc. There is little value in perfecting a cup-size shortlist if the disc format is what you actually want.

Ready-to-order checklist

  • You know whether you are buying the original Cup or Soft.
  • You have selected the size using relevant fitting information, not capacity alone.
  • You understand that a new cup may require learning its handling and care.

Then browse Saalt’s current cup options. If your existing cup already fits and meets your needs, keep it rather than switching sizes for a small difference on paper.

Explore Saalt

Choose the cup format, firmness and size deliberately. Saalt offers original and Soft cups; keep your current cup if it already meets your needs.
