If you are new to discs, Saalt presents Regular as its general starting recommendation and Small as an option in its lower-cervix fitting guidance. Treat that as a starting point, not a guarantee. Do not choose solely by flow or copy the size name from a menstrual cup.

Before you choose
The useful difference is physical size as well as stated capacity: Regular is wider, not just a Small disc with a larger storage claim.

When to start with Regular
For someone new to discs with no contrary fitting information, the brand’s Regular starting recommendation gives a place to begin the conversation. It does not remove the need to read the fitting guidance and instructions.
If you have already used a disc that fits well, its exact model and dimensions are more informative than a general first-time recommendation. Bring that information into the choice instead of starting from the size label alone.
When Small deserves a closer look
Saalt includes Small in its guidance for a lower cervix. If that is relevant to your known fitting information, review the Small option with the brand’s guidance or support before ordering.
Small is not automatically the best choice because you are a beginner, have lighter flow or have a smaller clothing size. Those shortcuts do not establish the internal fit of a disc.
Likewise, this article cannot assess your anatomy remotely. If the choice remains unclear, a specific fitting conversation is more useful than a second table claiming to calculate your size from one characteristic.
Why choosing the biggest capacity can backfire
The capacity number is attractive when you want fewer interruptions, but it is only useful in a product that works for you. A wider disc that is unsuitable for your fit is not the better choice because the specification is higher.
Neither figure is a guaranteed usable volume while worn. It also cannot be converted into a universal number of hours. Start with fit, learn your changing needs, and follow the product’s use instructions.
Already own a cup or a different disc?
A Saalt Cup size is not a Disc size recommendation. The products have different shapes and positioning. Someone using a Regular Cup still needs to consider the disc independently. See Cup vs Disc if you are changing formats.
For another brand’s disc, identify the actual model rather than assuming all “Regular” sizes match. Dimensions can help frame a comparison, but the full design matters too; a single diameter is not proof of equivalent fit.
What if the size you tried is not working?
Do not assume every leak means “buy bigger,” or every handling difficulty means “buy smaller.” Review the manufacturer’s instructions and ask for fitting support before ordering another size. Avoid persisting through pain simply to make a purchase work.
If the format itself appeals to you, our Saalt Disc review explains the wider buying trade-offs. Browse Saalt discs when you have a reason for the size choice beyond its capacity number.
